Films for Freedom - Political Cinema from Iran

Contemporary Iranian cinema reflects the unrest and hopes of a society striving for freedom and justice. The death of Mahsa Amini in September 2022, which became a symbol of resistance and led to the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, has also inspired filmmakers in Iran. Despite censorship and repression, they create courageous, powerful and creative films that denounce the system and make the voice of the oppressed heard.
